The left-foot accelerator was developed as an alternative choice to hand-controls enabling people with only the use of their left foot to operate automatic vehicles. These vehicles can be fitted with a hinged left-foot accelerator; the original accelerator pedal is also fitted with a hinge, a cable links the hinges. To alternate between the pedals, simply press down on the raised pedal with a hand or foot and the one that is not required will automatically hinge up out of the way. Our left-foot accelerators have been Motability approved which ensures a quality product.
Certain vehicles are now being produced with an organ throttle pedal and a fly by wire mechanism. As a conventional Pedal Transfer is hard to fit to this configuration, we at Mobility Conversions Ltd offer an electronic solution as follows. On the left of the brake pedal is fitted the exact
same throttle pedal for the vehicle (See picture). The pedals are linked via our new control box allowing the driver to activate or deactivate the left pedal (only one pedal can be active at any one time). The user has a button to activate the left throttle pedal. The default when the car is first started will be the right throttle pedal.
The floor mounted left foot accelerator can be fitted to all makes and models of automatic vehicles. The system incorporates a quick release mechanism to allow the left foot accelerator and right foot guard to be removed.
